Known as the City of Glass, Vancouver is considered on the world’s best cities. British Columbia’s largest city is drawing young chefs, artists and designers with its sophistication, ethnic diversity and natural bounty—verdant Vancouver is studded with parks and beaches, and views of the snow-capped North Shore Mountains. Both newcomers and local talent are transforming neighborhoods by replacing dilapidated storefronts and gloomy pawnshops with bars that serve local microbrews and eateries featuring sustainable cuisine. On edgy Chinatown street, vegetarian restaurant Parker brings French techniques together with local produce, and nearby Gastown boasts nightclubs and shops like Secret Location, a restaurant-cum-boutique.
