This is how it all begins…you order, the salivary glands start working and then it comes and you look, confirm all the pickles, sauces, onions and cheeses are properly stacked (as if it mattered!) take a deep breadth and ATTACK. Sorry this has taken so long.  These are my favourite NY Burger places.  I have to hit one each time I’m in NY because one can’t get a properly cooked medium-rare burger in a socialist state unless it’s some fancy restaurant, that must pay-off the municipal politburo, but they never understand the necessity of a white-trash bun and processed American cheese.  Soon they’ll regulate my backyard bbq…

NY Burgers:

  • Burger Joint, Parker Meridien hotel lobby
  • J.G. Melon, east side in 70s
  • PJ Clark’s, across from Lincoln Centre
  • Corner Bistro, west village
  • Prime Burger-50th between Madison and 5th Avenue-Dive Diner

EDITORIAL NOTE: Burgatory is msart-they ask you red, pink or no-pink for inside vs the oft times confusing rare, medium rare, medium...

My absolute favourite hamburger is at P.J. Clarke’s @ 915 Third Avenue and 55th Street. I love the simplicity and quality  of what they serve. Just the best.

My second favourite hamburger is at Fat Burger in Los Angeles on Melrose.
