Battle of the Crab Houses-In Chicago?

Right? Crab in Chicago? Well, it’s amazing that there’s not one, but two great places:

Joe Stone Crab: Another Rich Melman gem, old world, great bar area, dark wood, really competent men as waiters it just feels great. We were a bit underdressed but no matter. I had a nice cold beer, lots of delicious bread and a soft shell crab in a traditional lite batter  ($9.95) and some giant Madagascar shrimp ($13.95) with some great spices. Great Apps. Only weird thing is the men’s room is a single..for a place that big? maybe more upstairs?

But the best crab place and I dare say seafood joint? Bob Chinn’s in Wheeling, north of the city and west of Glen Coe. OMG, this place is my type of place. Down to earth, a joint and great garlic bread (lots of butter and garlic) fresh soft shell crab(picture not great but these are gigantic compared to Joe’s), great staff-mine was Deb F, divorced mom, down to earth and she brought over some others when they heard I was from LA-just nice normal people and great food and great prices. And the site has some great stats, 1,500 lbs of shrimp eaten a week, 500 lbs. of garlic used a week, 325,000 Mai Tai’s sold per year-Party on!!!!
